# Organize your library

Use folders, tags, metadata, and filters to keep a growing library findable.

Folders give your library structure, tags add labels that cut across folders, and metadata powers search, filters, and citations.

## Folders [#folders]

1. Click **Create** in the left sidebar and choose **Folder**.
2. Right-click a folder and choose **New folder** to nest one inside it.
3. Drag files onto a folder in the sidebar, or select several with checkboxes and move them together.

Folders matter for chat as well as tidiness. Agent chat treats an open folder as its current context, so answers draw on that project first instead of your whole library. Each folder is Private, Team, or Shared; see [Share and collaborate](/guides/collaborate).

## Tags [#tags]

A file lives in one folder but can carry many tags, such as `RCT`, `to-cite`, or `key-paper`.

* Click the **Tags** cell in the library table, type a name, and press Enter. New tags are created as you type them.
* Or open a file and add tags in the **Details** tab.

Use folders for projects and topics, and tags for status and methodology.

## Metadata [#metadata]

Anara fills in title, authors, publication, volume, issue, pages, DOI, publication date, citation count, abstract, and an AI summary where it can. Papers imported by DOI or PMID get the most complete records. To fix a field, open the file, go to **Details**, and click the field. Accurate metadata means accurate citations.

## Find things [#find-things]

* **Search** in the left sidebar finds files by title, content, authors, and other metadata.
* **Filter** narrows the table by fields such as folder, tags, date added, file type, or full text status. Filters combine.
* **Sort** orders by title, date, publication date, citation count, and more.
* **Display** shows or hides columns.

Filters and sorting apply to whatever is selected in the sidebar, so click **Library** first to work across everything.

## Trash [#trash]

Deleted files, chats, and folders go to **Trash** in the left sidebar and can be restored for 30 days.
