# Create and export reference lists

Keep the sources behind an answer and export them for your writing tools.

Use the sources attached to an answer to build a reference list you can check and reuse. A reference list describes the sources; inline citations show which passage supports a particular statement.

## Review an answer's sources [#review-an-answers-sources]

Open the sources for an answer. Switch between **Metadata** and **Reference** to inspect the source details or formatted references. Filter to **All**, **Library**, or **Web** when you only need one group.

Check titles, author names, dates, and identifiers before exporting. For library files, correct missing or wrong fields in **Details**. Choose your [citation style](/guides/citation-styles) before preparing a formatted list.

## Export [#export]

The source list offers:

* **Copy to clipboard** for pasting into another tool.
* **Download as TXT** for a text reference list.
* **Download as BibTeX** for LaTeX and reference managers.
* **Download as RIS** for reference managers.
* **Download as CSV** for a table of source metadata.

The export follows the sources currently shown, including the Library or Web filter.

## Ask for a bibliography [#ask-for-a-bibliography]

```text title="Prompt"
Create a reference list for the papers used in this answer. Use my selected citation style and flag missing authors, dates, or DOIs rather than inventing them.
```

For a whole folder, name or mention it and ask Anara to work from those files. Review the resulting list against the folder; a bibliography from one answer contains that answer's sources, not necessarily every file in the project.
