# Search science databases

Use public literature, trial, structure, and drug-discovery sources.

Science connectors provide live access to public research databases. They require Plus or above and do not require a separate database login.

| Source              | Find                                                |
| ------------------- | --------------------------------------------------- |
| PubMed              | Biomedical literature records                       |
| bioRxiv and medRxiv | Biology and health preprints |
| ClinicalTrials.gov  | Registered clinical studies                         |
| Protein Data Bank | Protein and nucleic-acid structure records |
| ChEMBL | Compounds, targets, assays, and bioactivity records |
| Open Targets | Target-disease associations and supporting evidence |

## Connect and search [#connect-and-search]

1. Open **Settings > Connectors**.
2. Find the database and click **Connect**.
3. In chat, type `@` and select it, or name it in your question.
4. Include the identifiers, topic, dates, or filters that matter.

```text title="Prompt"
Search ClinicalTrials.gov for studies matching my review criteria. Report their identifiers, status, and outcome measures, with links to the registry records.
```

Combine the database with your library to compare external records with files you already have. For paper discovery across disciplines, see [literature search](/guides/literature-search).

## Check what the result means [#check-what-the-result-means]

A database record may provide metadata without full text. A preprint is not evidence of peer review, and a trial registration is not a published result. Open the cited record and confirm its status before using it in a conclusion. If results are incomplete, try the source's terminology or a specific identifier.
