# Work with spreadsheets

Read, edit, analyze, and export workbook data.

Open a spreadsheet in Anara to inspect its sheets and ask questions about its data. You can also ask the agent to create or edit a workbook for a research task.

## Import and inspect [#import-and-inspect]

[Upload](/guides/add-files) Excel, ODS, or CSV files. Open the result and select the sheet you want to inspect. Check headers, units, formulas, and imported values before analyzing them.

Use the spreadsheet controls to find values, sort or filter rows, and adjust the view. You can edit cells and manage sheets when you have write access. Wait for changes to save before exporting or closing a task.

## Ask for analysis [#ask-for-analysis]

```text title="Prompt"
Compare outcomes by study group in this workbook. Identify missing values and units first. Show the calculations and create a chart from the checked values. Do not replace missing values with zero.
```

Anara can query workbook data, edit cells, and produce analysis outputs. Review calculations and source ranges, especially when a workbook contains formulas or incomplete imported sheets.

## Export [#export]

Choose **Export > Download as CSV** for the active sheet or **Download as Excel (.xlsx)** for the workbook. See [export](/guides/export) for other output types.

Use [Views](/guides/views) when each row should extract an answer from a separate source file. Use a spreadsheet when you want to work directly with tabular data or calculate across the values.
