Anara offers two types of chat experiences. When you start a chat from the home page, Anara provides intelligent responses by searching through academic databases, your personal library, and web sources to deliver comprehensive, research-backed answers to your questions. You can control this with the [Context settings](/chat/chat-settings#context-settings) in the settings menu inside the input. When chatting directly with files or folders, Anara focuses specifically on the content you're viewing, allowing for detailed questions about your research materials. # Chat settings Source: https://docs.anara.com/chat/chat-settings ### Context settings Anara gives you complete control over which information sources are used in responses. Use the toggles in chat settings to customize your sources: * Library: Include files from your personal workspace * Web: Allow searches across academic databases and internet sources * Model knowledge: Access the AI's built-in information When chatting with specific files or folders, these context settings are unavailable. In these cases, Anara will always use information from the selected files or folders to generate responses. ### Response length Adjust how detailed Anara's answers are by using the length setting. Choose preset lengths from 50-500 words, select "No limit" for unrestricted responses, or use the default 250-word length (maximum for free users). For custom word counts beyond preset options, select "No limit" and specify your desired length in your prompt (e.g., "Please respond in 800 words"). Note: Actual response lengths may vary by approximately 20% to ensure quality and completeness. ### Language settings Anara supports over 90 languages including French, Spanish, German, Hindi, and Chinese. You can change your preferred language in either the chat settings menu or your account settings. Note: While our models support over 90 languages, our interface is currently only available in English. # Chat with files Source: https://docs.anara.com/chat/chat-with-files Anara provides a powerful AI assistant for every file you import, allowing you to have intelligent conversations about documents, images, audio, and video content. Instead of manually searching through files, you can simply ask questions and get precise answers with citations. ## How to chat with a file When you open any file in Anara, you'll find a dedicated chat interface ready to answer questions specifically about that file's content. The AI assistant has full context of all information contained in the file, including: * Text content from PDFs and documents * Visual information from images and diagrams * Transcribed content from audio and video files * Tables, charts, and other structured data ## What you can do ### Ask specific questions Get direct answers to specific questions about your file: * "What are the main findings in this study?" * "Summarize the methodology section" * "What data supports the conclusion?" ### Get summaries Request quick overviews of any length: * "Give me a 3-sentence summary of this paper" * "What are the key takeaways from this presentation?" * "Summarize this video in bullet points" ### Find information Locate specific information without manual searching: * "Where does the author discuss climate change?" * "What page mentions the research methodology?" * "Find all references to machine learning" ### Understand complex topics Break down difficult concepts into clear explanations: * "Explain this statistical analysis in simple terms" * "What does this diagram show?" * "Help me understand the author's argument" ## Citations Every response from the AI assistant includes citations that link directly to the source location in your file. Click on any citation to jump to the exact page, timestamp, or section where the information was found. This makes it easy to verify information and dive deeper into the source material. ## Tips for effective file chat * **Be specific**: Ask focused questions for more precise answers * **Use follow-ups**: Continue the conversation to dig deeper into topics * **Request formatting**: Ask for bullet points, numbered lists, or tables to organize information * **Combine questions**: Ask multiple related questions to get comprehensive answers # Chat with folders Source: https://docs.anara.com/chat/chat-with-folders You can add multiple files into one AI assistant for quick cross-referencing and search.
