Add files
Bring papers, documents, web pages, and videos into your library.
Everything you add is processed automatically: Anara extracts the text, pulls metadata such as authors, journal, and DOI, writes a short summary, and indexes the content so the agent can search and cite it.
Ways to add content
| Method | How |
|---|---|
| Upload | Drag files onto the library, or click Add > Upload files |
| URL, DOI, or PMID | Click Add > Import by URL and paste a link, a DOI such as 10.1038/s41586-021-03819-2, or PMID:34234345 |
| YouTube | Paste a video URL to import it as a Video item |
| Web pages | Paste the URL, or save it with the Chrome extension |
| From chat | Ask the agent to find and import papers; it asks for your approval first |
| Connectors | Import from Zotero, Mendeley, OneDrive, and more. See Connectors |
Anara accepts documents (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, EPUB, Markdown, plain text, and more), images, audio, and video. The help center has the full list of file types.
DOI and PMID imports resolve metadata automatically. Full text is retrieved when the paper is openly available.
Check the full text status
The Full text column in your library tells you how much of each file the agent can read.
| Status | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Available | The full text was extracted | Nothing, it is ready |
| Abstract only | Only the abstract was found, usually a paywalled paper imported by DOI or URL | Download the PDF through your institution and upload it |
| Content unavailable | No text could be extracted | For scanned PDFs, run OCR and re-upload; otherwise re-export the file |
The agent only works with extracted text. If it cannot find something you know is in a paper, check this column first.
Most files process in under a minute. Books and long reports can take a few minutes. For uploads that fail or stay stuck, see Troubleshooting file uploads.
